being called Eight Bridges, since the streams the water formed were eight, like a spider’s legs, it would be owing to eight bridges having been laid across them that it was called Eight Bridges.  Having dismounted and sat down in the shade of some trees by the marsh, they ate their dried rice.  In that marsh there were some irises blooming quite invitingly.  Seeing them, what one of them said (was) “Setting the five letters “Ka-ki-tsu-ba-ta”
